What is Tretizen 10 by Zenlabs?
Tretizen 10 by Zenlabs contains isotretinoin in capsules of 10 mg, with 10 capsules in a pack. Ten milligrams is one of the smallest common strengths of this drug, and it is the one most often used for low-dose treatment, where the aim is to control oily skin and breakouts with fewer side effects than a full dermatological dose.
Isotretinoin is a vitamin A derivative from the retinoid family, sold for decades as Accutane. Once absorbed, it acts on the sebaceous glands: the glands become smaller and produce much less sebum, often within a few weeks. At the same time the skin lining the follicles renews in a more orderly way, so plugs and blackheads form less often, and the inflamed red lesions settle.
Why low-dose isotretinoin?
Not every case of acne is severe and cystic. Many people struggle with persistent moderate acne, oily skin that shines an hour after washing, or breakouts that flare every time androgen levels rise. That pattern is common among strength athletes who use testosterone or other anabolic steroids. For these cases, low daily doses have become a popular approach. Users typically report:
- visibly less oily skin and smaller pores;
- fewer new pimples on the face, back and chest;
- milder dryness of the lips and skin than at standard doses;
- the option of a long, steady course instead of a short, harsh one.
How is Tretizen 10 used?
Low-dose regimens described in dermatology literature usually range from 10 to 20 mg per day, or 10 mg a few times a week for maintenance, continued for several months. Standard dosing for severe acne is higher and calculated by body weight. The capsule is taken with a meal containing fat; on an empty stomach much less of the drug is absorbed. Results build slowly, and the skin may get worse in the first weeks before it improves.
Even at 10 mg, the drug requires a medical plan. The dose, the duration and the blood tests (liver enzymes and lipids) must be agreed with a qualified medical professional.
Possible side effects
A lower dose reduces side effects but does not remove them. Dry lips are almost universal, and many users also notice dry eyes, flaky skin and occasional nosebleeds. Back pain and stiff joints may appear, especially with heavy lifting. Triglycerides and liver enzymes can rise, which deserves extra attention when the drug is combined with oral steroids that also strain the liver and blood lipids. Low mood or depression must be reported to a doctor without delay.
Isotretinoin causes serious birth defects. Women who are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding must not take it. Tetracycline antibiotics and vitamin A supplements must not be combined with it.
