What is Tiros 50 by Pharmacom Labs?
Tiros 50 is the thyroid hormone product of Pharmacom Labs. Its active substance is liothyronine, better known as T3, and the package is listed as 50mg (50 pills). Liothyronine is the synthetic form of triiodothyronine, the hormone through which the thyroid gland controls metabolism throughout the body.
A note on units: liothyronine is always dosed in micrograms (mcg), and all dose figures on this page are in mcg. Before using Tiros 50, check the strength printed on the blister or box and work out the dose from that figure.
How T3 differs from other fat-loss drugs
Liothyronine is often grouped with clenbuterol, but the two work in completely different ways. Clenbuterol stimulates receptors on the cell surface, gives an effect within hours, and loses strength after a few weeks as the receptors adapt. T3 enters the cell and acts on the genes that control energy use. Its effect builds over several days and does not fade in the same way, which is why T3 courses can run longer. It differs from T4 as well: T4 must first be converted into T3, so taking T3 directly gives a quicker and stronger response.
The effects people seek from Tiros 50:
- a faster resting metabolism during a calorie deficit;
- greater use of stored fat for energy;
- less of the fatigue and coldness that come with long diets.
T3 does not distinguish between fat and muscle. At higher doses it accelerates protein breakdown, so it is usually paired with plenty of protein and resistance training, and in bodybuilding often with anabolic steroids.
Dosing
Medical replacement for hypothyroidism typically begins at 25 mcg daily and rarely goes beyond 75 mcg. In physique sports, commonly reported courses start at 25 mcg a day, rise to around 50 mcg over the first one to two weeks, and last six to eight weeks, followed by a step-down rather than an abrupt stop. Some users split the daily dose into two parts to smooth out the blood level. All of this must be agreed with a qualified medical professional, who will also order thyroid tests and check the heart.
Side effects and contraindications
T3 has a narrow window between a useful dose and an excessive one. Signs of excess include a rapid pulse, palpitations, chest discomfort, shaking, sweating, heat intolerance, nervousness, sleeplessness and diarrhea. Loss of strength and muscle points to a dose that is too high. Prolonged excess carries a risk of atrial fibrillation and bone loss. The body's own thyroid hormone production is suppressed during use.
It is not for people with heart disease, untreated adrenal insufficiency or an overactive thyroid, and should not be combined with stimulants without medical oversight.
