What is Clenbol by Phoenix Remedies?

Clenbol is clenbuterol hydrochloride in tablet form from Phoenix Remedies, with 50 mcg of the active substance in each of the 100 pills in a pack. Clenbuterol, usually shortened to "Clen", was developed as a bronchodilator. In several countries it is still prescribed for asthma and chronic obstructive lung disease; in the United States it is not approved for human use and is known mainly as a veterinary drug for horses with breathing problems.

Its place in sport comes from a side effect of its medical use. Clenbuterol is a beta-2 adrenergic agonist: it stimulates the same receptors that adrenaline acts on. That relaxes the airways, but it also raises body temperature and metabolic rate and pushes fat cells to release stored fat.

Why is Clenbol used?

Bodybuilders, fitness athletes and models use clenbuterol during a cutting phase, when the goal is to lose the last of the body fat while keeping as much muscle as possible. It is not an anabolic steroid and has no hormonal activity. The effects people report:

• a higher resting energy expenditure and a feeling of internal heat;
• faster fat loss on the same diet, most visible in the final weeks before a show;
• less hunger in some users;
• a sense of alertness and energy during training.

In livestock, clenbuterol shifts nutrients from fat toward muscle, but that muscle-sparing effect is much weaker in humans than many forums suggest. It is banned in sport at all times.

How is it used?

Reported regimens start low, often at 20 mcg per day, and raise the dose gradually every few days while watching heart rate and tremor. Men commonly stay within 60 to 120 mcg a day; women usually use lower amounts. With 50 mcg tablets, the steps are usually a half tablet (25 mcg) at a time. The whole daily amount is taken in the morning, because clenbuterol has a long half-life and evening doses ruin sleep.

The effect fades within about two to three weeks as the receptors become less sensitive, so courses are often run two weeks on and two weeks off, with a total of six to eight weeks. Any use must be agreed with a qualified medical professional who knows the heart and blood pressure of the user.

Possible side effects

Clenbuterol acts on the heart and nervous system, and its side effects follow from that: shaking hands, a racing pulse, palpitations, higher blood pressure, sweating, headaches, anxiety and insomnia. Painful muscle cramps are typical and linked to a drop in potassium and taurine levels. Long or high-dose use has been associated with heart muscle damage and arrhythmias.

It must not be used by people with heart disease, rhythm disorders, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid or anxiety disorders, nor during pregnancy.
