What is Fertigyn HP 5000 by Sun Pharma?

Fertigyn HP 5000 is an injectable preparation of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) made by Sun Pharma, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in India. The letters "HP" stand for highly purified: the hormone is obtained from a natural source and cleaned to a high standard before it is freeze-dried. It comes as a dry powder that must be dissolved before injection.

HCG is a glycoprotein hormone that the body normally produces during pregnancy. Its structure is very close to that of luteinizing hormone (LH), so it binds to the same receptors in the testes and tells the Leydig cells to make testosterone. In medicine it is prescribed for fertility treatment in women and for hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and undescended testicles in males. It is not an anabolic steroid, yet it is popular with steroid users for one specific job.

What are the effects of Fertigyn HP 5000?

How is it used?

HCG raises testosterone, and part of that testosterone converts to estradiol. This explains most of its unwanted effects:

• headache, irritability or mood swings;
• pain or redness at the injection site.

Allergic reactions and blood clots are rare but have been reported. People with prostate or testicular cancer, other hormone-dependent tumors or a known allergy to gonadotropins should not use it. In women it can cause ovarian hyperstimulation.
