What is Xmalon 25 by Celon Labs?

Xmalon 25 is a 25 mg exemestane tablet from Celon Labs, packed 30 pills to a box. It is a prescription oncology drug in origin, made for women after menopause whose breast cancer depends on estrogen. Athletes know the same compound by its first brand name, Aromasin.

As an aromatase inhibitor, exemestane lowers the amount of estrogen the body produces. What makes it different is its chemistry. It is a derivative of androstenedione, the hormone that aromatase normally turns into estrone, and it binds the enzyme irreversibly, leaving it permanently inactive. Pharmacologists call such drugs type I, or irreversible, aromatase inhibitors, as opposed to the type II, reversible group that includes anastrozole and letrozole.

Exemestane compared with other inhibitors

Choosing an aromatase inhibitor for a cycle usually comes down to these differences:

• Strength: letrozole is the most potent and can drop estradiol very low; exemestane and anastrozole are easier to keep in a moderate range.

• Androgenic side: a metabolite of exemestane binds the androgen receptor weakly, which anastrozole and letrozole do not.
• Food: exemestane is better absorbed with a meal, while the other two are not affected much by food.

In practice Xmalon 25 is used to keep estradiol balanced on testosterone-based and other aromatizing cycles, to lower the risk of gynecomastia and to limit water retention, and sometimes during post cycle therapy.

Usual doses

Breast cancer patients receive 25 mg once daily after food, for years. Doses described by bodybuilders are lower or less frequent: half a tablet a day, or a whole tablet every second day, with full daily use kept for large doses of aromatizing steroids. Exemestane has a half-life of roughly 24 hours. Treatment usually spans the whole cycle plus the time the esters need to clear.

Estradiol tests guide the adjustments. Any plan for dose and duration should be worked out with a qualified medical professional.

Side effects and precautions

When estrogen falls too far, joints ache, energy and libido drop and cholesterol values deteriorate; this is the most common problem with any inhibitor. Exemestane can also cause hot flushes, headache, insomnia, sweating, nausea and dizziness, and its androgenic metabolite may bring oily skin or acne. Long use lowers bone mineral density. Xmalon 25 is contraindicated in pregnancy, while breastfeeding and in premenopausal women, and it should not be combined with estrogen therapy.
