What is Super Avana by Indian Brand?

Super Avana is a two-in-one tablet for men who deal with both weak erections and ejaculation that comes too early. It combines avanafil, a PDE5 inhibitor for erectile dysfunction, with dapoxetine, a short-acting drug for premature ejaculation. The 160 mg on the pack is the total of both ingredients in each tablet: 100 mg of avanafil plus 60 mg of dapoxetine. The manufacturer is listed as Indian Brand, and one pack contains 4 tablets.

Both components are known separately. Avanafil is sold as Stendra in the US and as Spedra in Europe. What does each ingredient do?

• Avanafil blocks the enzyme PDE5 in the blood vessels of the penis. With sexual stimulation, blood flow improves and an erection is easier to achieve and keep.
• Dapoxetine briefly raises serotonin activity in the nerve pathways that control the ejaculation reflex, which delays climax and gives more sense of control.

The idea behind Super Avana is that the two problems often go together: a man worried about losing his erection may rush, and a man who climaxes too fast may start to fear sex, which then affects erections. Neither ingredient increases desire; arousal is still needed.

How is it taken?

The usual advice for this combination is one tablet with a full glass of water about one hour before sex, and never more than one tablet in 24 hours. It can be taken with or without a light meal. Alcohol should be avoided because it strengthens the dizziness and fainting risk of dapoxetine. Note that the tablet supplies 60 mg of dapoxetine, the higher of its two usual doses; in medical practice men new to dapoxetine are often started at 30 mg. Whether a fixed combination suits you, and how often it may be used, must be agreed with a qualified medical professional.

Side effects and who should avoid it

Common effects are headache, flushing, blocked nose, nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and trouble sleeping. The main specific risk of dapoxetine is fainting, sometimes preceded by lightheadedness, sweating or nausea; anyone who feels this should lie down at once. It must not be combined with nitrates or poppers, with antidepressants, tramadol, triptans, St John's wort or other drugs that raise serotonin, or with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors. It is not for men with heart failure or other serious heart disease, a history of fainting, mania or severe depression, or moderate to severe liver problems, and it is intended for men aged 18 to 64.
