What is Hennos 10 by Pharmacom Labs?
Hennos 10 is an oral product from Pharmacom Labs containing GW1516, also known as GW501516 or by the nicknames Cardarine and Endurobol. Each tablet holds 10 mg. Although it is listed among oral products used by athletes, GW1516 is not a steroid and not a SARM. It is a synthetic PPAR-delta agonist, a research compound that acts on metabolism rather than on hormone receptors.
The molecule was developed in the 1990s by GlaxoSmithKline in partnership with Ligand as a possible treatment for abnormal blood lipids, obesity and related metabolic disease. Early human studies showed improvements in HDL cholesterol and triglycerides, but the program was stopped around 2007 after long-term animal studies found that the compound caused cancers in several organs. It was never approved as a medicine anywhere.
How GW1516 works and why athletes are interested
PPAR-delta is a nuclear receptor that controls genes involved in fat burning and energy use in muscle tissue. Activating it shifts muscle toward using fatty acids as fuel and spares glucose. In well-known experiments on mice, the compound combined with training markedly increased running endurance, which is where the name Endurobol came from. Users of Hennos 10 usually look for:
- longer endurance and less fatigue during cardio work;
- greater use of stored fat for energy during a diet;
- a more favorable blood lipid picture;
- no direct effect on testosterone or the hormonal axis.
It does not build muscle on its own. Its interest for bodybuilders lies in conditioning and fat loss rather than mass.
How it is used
Commonly reported amounts are in the range of 10 to 20 mg a day, taken once, over periods of several weeks. Because there are no approved medical indications, there is no official dosing at all, and any figures come from informal practice rather than clinical guidance. Whether to use it, at what dose and for how long must be agreed with a qualified medical professional. GW1516 is on the World Anti-Doping Agency prohibited list, so tested athletes cannot use it at any time.
Risks and side effects
The main concern is the carcinogenic effect seen in rodent studies, which led to the end of its development and to an unusual public warning from anti-doping authorities. How that finding translates to people is unknown, and there is no long-term human data. The human trials that were completed were small and short, so its side-effect profile in people remains poorly described, and informal users have no way of knowing their individual risk. Anyone with a personal or family history of cancer, liver disease, or who is pregnant or breastfeeding, should not use it.
