What is Viropace by Consern Pharma LTD?
Viropace is an oral androgen made by Consern Pharma LTD. Its active substance is mesterolone, the same compound sold for decades under the pharmacy brand Proviron. Each tablet contains 25 mg of mesterolone.
Mesterolone is a derivative of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) with a methyl group at the 1-alpha position. That small change lets it be taken by mouth without the 17-alpha alkylation used in most oral steroids, so it is far gentler on the liver than compounds such as methandienone or oxandrolone. In medicine it has been prescribed in some countries for androgen deficiency in men and for certain cases of reduced fertility. It is a weak anabolic: its value lies in its androgenic action and in the way it interacts with other hormones, not in building muscle tissue.
Effects and reasons for use
Bodybuilders rarely use Viropace on its own. It is usually a support compound inside a larger cycle, chosen for several reasons:
- Mesterolone binds strongly to sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), which can leave more of the other steroids in the free, active form.
- Being a DHT derivative, it cannot be converted to estrogen, and it is often said to have a mild anti-estrogenic effect.
- Users report a harder, drier look to the muscles, especially near a contest.
- It is known for improving libido and general sense of drive, which is why some men use it during cycles with compounds that dampen sexual function.
How it is used
Commonly reported amounts in bodybuilding circles are 25 to 50 mg a day, sometimes split into two intakes, for the length of a cycle or only during its final weeks. Medical prescribing has used doses in a similar range. These are typical figures from literature and practice, not personal advice. The actual dose and duration must be agreed with a qualified medical professional, who can also judge whether mesterolone makes sense alongside any other medication.
Possible side effects
Although mesterolone does not stress the liver the way alkylated orals do, it is still a potent androgen. Reported side effects include acne, oily skin, hair loss in men with a predisposition to male-pattern baldness, prostate enlargement and urinary discomfort, and changes in cholesterol. At higher doses it may contribute to suppression of the body's own testosterone production. Women are generally advised against it because of the risk of virilization, such as a deeper voice and body hair growth. Men with prostate cancer, breast cancer or significant prostate enlargement should not use it.
