What is Arimidol by Phoenix Remedies?

Arimidol is a tablet preparation of anastrozole made by Phoenix Remedies. Each pill holds 1 mg of the active substance and the box contains 100 of them, a large supply meant for people who need an aromatase inhibitor over a long stretch of time or across several cycles.

Anastrozole is a nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitor from the triazole group. Aromatase is the enzyme that turns androgens such as testosterone into estradiol. Anastrozole binds to it reversibly and slows that conversion, so less estrogen is made in the body. In medicine it treats hormone receptor positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women; in sport it is an ancillary drug that keeps estrogen in check during a steroid cycle.

Why do athletes use Arimidol?

Testosterone and several of its derivatives aromatize. On a cycle with testosterone esters, boldenone or methandrostenolone, estradiol can climb well above the normal male range. Anastrozole is added to hold it down:

  • to lower the risk of gynecomastia, the growth of glandular tissue under the nipple;
  • to limit water retention and the soft, bloated look that comes with it;
  • to help keep blood pressure stable where fluid retention pushes it up;
  • to stay closer to a normal balance between testosterone and estradiol.

It works as prevention. Anastrozole does little for glandular tissue that has already formed, so it is started early in a cycle rather than after symptoms appear.

How is anastrozole dosed?

The clinical dose in breast cancer is 1 mg once a day. Men on a cycle generally need far less. Commonly reported amounts are 0.25 to 0.5 mg daily or every other day, rising to 1 mg every other day with large doses of strongly aromatizing compounds. With a half-life of about 50 hours, blood levels stay even on an every-other-day schedule. Use usually continues for as long as the aromatizing compounds remain active.

The right amount differs a lot between people, so it is set by blood tests: estradiol is checked a few weeks after starting and the dose adjusted to the result. Dose and duration must be agreed with a qualified medical professional.

Side effects and precautions

Most problems come from pushing estrogen too low. Estradiol matters for a man's joints, bones, lipids, libido and mood, and too much Arimidol can bring:

  • joint pain and stiffness;
  • low libido and weaker erections;
  • fatigue and a flat mood;
  • worse cholesterol values;
  • loss of bone density with long-term use.

Other reported effects include hot flushes, headache, nausea and skin rash. Anastrozole is not for pregnant or breastfeeding women or for children, and people with osteoporosis or with liver or kidney disease need medical supervision.

What is in the package?

The box contains 100 pills of 1 mg anastrozole produced by Phoenix Remedies. Arimidol can be ordered on MaxLabs.co, where other aromatase inhibitors and SERMs are collected in the anti-estrogens category.
